This month, our Content Team really kicked it into overdrive with tons of new content. If you’re Team Azure, then you’ll be amazed at the number of Azure Courses and Hands-on Labs we published this month alone! At any time, you can find all of our new releases by going to our Training Library and finding the section titled “New this month in our library.” You can also keep track of what new training is coming for the next 4-6 weeks with our Content Roadmap.
Now let’s jump right into our new releases for October.
New on Cloud Academy
Certification Update: Update: AZ-900 Exam Preparation: Microsoft Azure Fundamentals
Added “Understanding Core Azure Networking Products” lab. All learning path, course, and lab descriptions list what has changed under “Updates.” Please note your progress may change based on these content updates.
Course: Creating an App on Azure Service Fabric
What exactly is the value-add for Service Fabric? How do we use it to solve container-related technical challenges? This course answers both of those questions and goes even further by covering a number of relevant software design concepts. From this course, you will learn what Service Fabric does, how to use it to deploy a real application, and how Service Fabric incorporates design patterns and structures such as the actor model and collections.
Course: Managing Azure AD User Roles
This Managing Azure AD User Roles course will teach you how to plan user roles in Microsoft 365 and how to allocate roles in workloads. You will learn how to configure administrative accounts and how to configure RBAC within Azure AD. You’ll also learn how to delegate and manage admin roles.
Course: Planning for Microsoft 365 Implementation and Migration
This course will help you as you plan your migration of users and data to Microsoft 365, including planning your identity and authentication solution, and the on-premises infrastructure needed to support your migration. We’ll also help you understand and identify your business requirements and use cases to help drive your decision-making process when planning to transition your infrastructure to the Microsoft cloud.
Learning Path: MS-100 Exam Preparation: Microsoft 365 Identity and Services
This Learning Path is designed to help you prepare for the MS-100 Microsoft 365 Identity and Services exam.
Hands-on Lab: Work with Joins in SQL
In this lab, you will practice using joins. Joins are a SQL tool that allow you to view, edit, and store data from multiple tables using a single query. The benefit of joins is that you can create more complex data sets using only the data you need from individual tables. You can then use the data as needed or insert it into a new table.
Hands-on Lab: Run Your First SQL Queries
In this lab, you will practice the basics of SQL by connecting to a Microsoft SQL Server instance and then creating, managing, and viewing data using a combination of user interface tools and SQL queries.
Hands-on Lab: Back Up and Restore VMs with Azure Backup
Azure Backup is a service for backing up your data in Azure. In this lab, you will use Azure Backup to backup a Windows Server VM running IIS in this lab. You will configure a backup schedule and retention periods using a backup policy. You will finish by restoring the VM back to an earlier state by performing a restore operation. Along the way, you will learn the key concepts of Azure Backup.
Hands-on Lab: Azure Resource Manager Templates In Depth
Azure Resource Manager (ARM) is a deployment and management service for Azure that allows you to manage resources using declarative JSON templates rather than scripts. In this lab, you will first create a Windows virtual machine using an Azure Resource Manager template. Then, you will improve the template using several additional ARM features.
Hands-on Lab: Understanding Core Azure Networking Products
In this lab, you will navigate the Microsoft Azure Portal and receive an introduction to networking services as provided by Azure. Each lab step will focus on a different Azure networking service. By the end of this lab, you will have a basic grasp of different Azure networking tools as well as how and why they are used.
Learning Path: Building and Deploying a Cloud-Native Application
Are you interested in building robust enterprise-grade, cloud-native applications at scale? This Learning Path will introduce you to various third-party build tools and related applications for building, deploying, and testing your cloud-native applications, ensuring that they are battle-hardened and production-ready.
Google Cloud Platform
Course: Deploying Networking and Compute Resources on Google Cloud Platform
This course has been designed to teach you how to deploy network and compute resources on Google Cloud Platform. The content in this course will help prepare you for the Associate Cloud Engineer exam.
Hands-on Lab: Build and Deploy a Container Application with Google Cloud Run
Cloud Run is a managed compute platform that automatically scales your stateless containers. In this lab, you will build a Docker image that refers to a simple Python application by using Cloud Build, then you will deploy the application by using Cloud Run. You will also monitor and get logs of your application by using the Cloud Run Console.
Hands-on Lab: Create a Network Infrastructure with Google Virtual Private Cloud
Google Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) is a fully managed service that allows you to create VPCs. In this lab, you will create basic network infrastructure composed by a VPC, two Subnets in different regions, and two firewall rules that will filter the ingress traffic.
Course: Deploying A Cloud-Native Application into Kubernetes
Observe first hand the end-to-end process of deploying a sample cloud-native application into a Kubernetes cluster. By taking this course you’ll not only get to see firsthand the skills required to perform a robust enterprise-grade deployment into Kubernetes, but you’ll also be able to apply them yourself as all code and deployment assets are available for you to perform your own deployment.
Hands-on Lab: Create Kubernetes Layer-7 Network Policies using Cilium CNI
If you’re building and deploying cloud-native applications and microservices, then Kubernetes is the must-have platform. This lab is designed to show you how to install and setup Kubernetes layer-7 Network Policies using Cilium. You will be walked through the process of deploying a sample Star Wars-themed API. You’ll then learn how to secure inbound application traffic to the API by creating and deploying a layer-7 network policy.
Hands-on Lab: Create Kubernetes Nginx Ingress Controller for External API Traffic
Being able to consume Kubernetes hosted services externally is a common requirement. Kubernetes provides the Ingress resource type to implement this requirement. In this lab, you learn how to deploy an Nginx Ingress Controller and install and expose a sample API service using an Ingress resource.
PRINCE2 is one of the most widely used methods for managing projects in the world. It has earned this status because it is based on established and proven best practice, it can be scaled to any size project in any industry, and can be tailored to suit the needs of each project. In this Learning Path, you will understand project management within PRINCE2, key features of the exam, and how to apply PRINCE2 to projects.
